Hi, my name is Joanna Marek. I am currently the school librarian at Spring Avenue Elementary School, in La Grange, Illinois. I find great value in using images to create context and background knowledge to expand learning.

My passion for primary sources started at a Library of Congress Summer Institute for Teachers. This week-long professional development was one of the best learning experiences I have had in my career. I highly recommend it to all educators who are looking to enhance their teaching and incorporate visual literacy into the curriculum.
